Read for Rice program is a project of the city government of Sagay wherein school children are provided with recommended books for reading and given questionnaires to answer. The eacher also asks questions regarding the book. The students are then given points which will then be given rice equivalent |
Read Aloud Volunteer Program |
The Read Alound Volunteer Program is a reading intervention program of Vice Mayor Leo RaFael M. Cueva composed of City Employees grouped into 7 groups with 6 members per group and deployed to the different public schools every Friday to read story books to grade I and II pupils to introduce to them the benefits and joy of reading. |
Oplan Paglilingkod |
It is an annual intervention program of the city government wherein the diferent departments of the city are being represented and deployed to the 25 barangays as scheduled to bring the services right at the doorsteps of our constituents. We give priority to the far flung barangays bringing the services of the government nearer and accessible to those who need it most.
This program highlights the services o the city health office. As it usually alls on summer vacation, the blockbuster among the services available is the circumcision. We also have lectures on reproductive health, child care, vaccination, dental services, consultation and giving o available medicines and even milk feeding.
Other services available are social welfare services, agriculture services (giving of available vegetables seeds and rice grain varieties and sample of fertilizers to farmers), veterinary services (vaccination of animals), and civil registration. |
School Feeding Program |
Mayor Marañon has intensified the feeding program in 22 elementary public schools of the city. Parents of the pupils take turns cooking luch for the children with the supervision of their respective teacher advisers. Parents prepare affordable yet nutritious meals. The produce of Gulayan sa Eskwelahan augments the ood source of the pupils. |

The City Government of Sagay through the CIty Inormation and Services Office maintains a radio program dubbed "Ang Sagay Karon" every wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to keep our residents well informed of the current issues that directly affect their lives. It is also the objective of the program to keep our residents aware of the projects and programs of the city government and so that they can avail of whatever benefits of the program they can avail.
Resource persons are also invited during the show to enlighten our listeners on topics being discussed during the program. Listeners are encouraged to text their reaction and questions on the topics being discussed. |
Solid Waste Management Council |
In accordance with the implementation of R.A. 9003 the government of Sagay has established the Solid Waste Management Council to take care of the city's solid waste. Our executive director has introduced innovative programs on Solid Waste Management o the city. The General Services Office has garbage compactors which go around the city and some of the baranagays to collect garbage after which they are brought to a designated area at the New Public Market for shredding. We the use the shredded waste for fertilizer.
We have also established the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in some barangays and make use of recyclable waste. Tetrapacks have been made into backpacks and wallets, used straws into sleeping mats and other decorative items. Plastics are melted into flower vases using molds. |
Sagay City Youth Techonlogy Center |
It is the project of the city government in coordination with Engineers Without Borders (EWB) of Canada through our City Social Welfare and Development Office intended for the out of school youth and youth with desabilities ages 15-24 years old. EWB provided 15 units of computers and computer training to our instructors. It has a comprehensive learning program which includes lectures on reproductive health, values formation, drugs, English and livelihood skills. In school training is 3 months after which students are deployed to the different offices for on the job training. We started in August 2005 with 30 students per batch. At present, we are now on the 9th batch. It has also won as "The Most Impressive Scala Information Computer Technology (ICT)" Center because it has a complete, comprehensive and effective program package upon evaluation of the DSWD nationwide. Our center has been chosen as one of the instructors to provide assistance to newly opened ICT centers nationwide. |
