Friendship Kayak landed in Sagay on its 41st day of the 100-day expedition

SAGAY CITY, October 10 - - -Singapore’s known adventurer and motivational speaker Khoo Swee Chiow and Cebuano paddler Erwin Glenn “Buzzy” Budlong of the Friendship Kayak landed in Sagay City last Saturday on its 41st day of the 100-day, 3,300-kilometer kayak expedition.
Mr. Chiow said “the challenge is to traverse the entire Philippine archipelago on a kayak, a feat that has never been done before.” The expedition will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of Philippine-Singapore diplomatic relations. It hopes to forge a closer tie and new friendship between the people of these two nations.
He also commented that the Philippines is a beautiful country and Sagay City is likewise a beautiful City. He also expressed gratitude to the City Government of Sagay for the warm reception.
Upon completion of the expedition, he said he will be writing a book and will feature the beautiful landscape and the people of this fascinating country which will include Sagay.
Mr. Chiow and the expedition team also passed through Carbin Reef, a marine sanctuary inside the 32,000 hectare marine reserve. They also visited and toured Museo sang Bata sa Negros Inc., tasted Sagay’s sumptuous food and stayed at Balay Kauswagan.
The expedition started last August 31 in the southern tip of Mindanao in Glan, Saranggani and will end at the northernmost tip of Luzon.
Mr. Chiow has climbed 33 of the highest mountains in the world including Mt. Everest, skied to the South Pole, cycled from Singapore to Beijing, swam the Straits of Malacca, world’s longest on skates on skates, hold Guinness World Records, these and many other feats.
