Sagay City – Vice Mayor Leo Rafael M. Cueva inducted the first set of officers of the newly organized Sagay Sheep and Goat Raisers Association (SSAGORA) held at Tali-ambong Activity Center this city recently.

SSAGORA was conceptualized and formed through the efforts, initiative and encouragement of City Veterinarian, Dr. Baltazar Delorino. 
50 goats will be dispersed by the Provincial Government through the Provincial Veterinary Office to SSAGORA under the terms and conditions provided for in a Memorandum of Agreement.
Mr. Joey Belonio, SSAGORA President said he is very happy with this livelihood opportunity that the Provincial Government is providing our goat raisers.  He called on to his fellow association officers and members to be accountable and responsible beneficiaries of this project.  He stressed that this project is not a dole out but also has responsibility attached to it under the MOA.   He further said that it is important that the beneficiaries should be responsible to the animals entrusted to them under the dispersal program so that sheep and goat raising will become a potential livelihood opportunity for Sagaynons. 
Community Affairs Office Head and Executive Asst. IV Mr. Arthur Christopher Maranon said that this dispersal program will open livelihood opportunities to Sagaynons  and will hopefully reduce poverty in the city.  He called on the members of the association and the beneficiaries to make this project sustainable so that foreign market will be opened if production is plenty.
The newly inducted of SSAGORA are the following:  President – Joey Belonio, Vice President –for Operation – Eng. Vivencio Flores, Vice President for finance - Mr. Marcelo Briones, Jr., Treasurer-  Regulus Briliantes, Auditor – Rolyn Vistar, PIO – Mark Ian Minoza, Bus. Manager – Arnold Miguel.
To provide the SSAGORA members and beneficiaries technical know how and knowledge, an effective sheep and goat raising seminar was conducted after the induction ceremonies.  The following were topics discussed during the seminar and resource persons:  Management of Sheep and Goat – Mr. William Detorre, Provincial Agriculturist II; Disease Prevention Control of Sheep and Goat – Dr. Adelardo Mondia, Provincial Veterinarian III and Artificial lnsemination of Sheep and Goat – Jevi Ganancial, Provincial Agriculturist II.
There are at present 90 registered members of SSAGORA.
