Christmas Fair 2011

The Message still remains

“GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST AND ON EARTH PEACE, GOODWILL TOWARD MEN”

2,000 years ago the angels announced to the shepherds.

“There is born to you this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord........and suddenly a multitude of Heavenly Host praising God and saying: Glory to God in the Highest and on earth, peace and goodwill to men”

The message announcing the birth of Christ is now widely accepted and celebrated in the Christian Nations, if not the whole world. However, peace remains as elusive as ever.

A world weary of strife, violence, and unrest, hopes and longs for peace. But peace will not come like rain from heaven. We have to work for it, by ourselves, not by angels. It must begin in the hearts of men of goodwill, internalize and externalize the message of peace. Next time you hear the song “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me” be reminded of our solemn commitment to work for peace. Let us not only be peace advocate but makers of peace.
In the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5 v.9) Jesus Christ said : “Blessed are the peacemaker for they shall be called children of God.”

The message this Christmas 2011 then is man’s expression of thanksgiving for the greatest Gift and renewal of the solemn duty to work for peace.
